About the Authors

Nicole Williams
Nicole met a Swede in Australia back 89-90 and fell in love, as so many do. After a year here in ´92 she moved back in 1995 knowing she was in for the long haul - and she is still here almost 15 years later. Life has its ups and downs and she now shares her home and her life with a Canadian and two little Aussie-Canadian-Swedes.

With a Economics-Marketing degree and a background in marketing in small business, Nicole went on to spend many years training individuals and groups in cross-cultural communication, resolving countless conflicts over the years. Her work within the Nordic Region also included Presentation Training in an International Environment, Rhetoric and Train-the-Trainer courses as well as coaching for specific presentations.

It was while on maternity leave with her second child that Nicole became acutely aware of the depth of her knowledge and experiences in Sweden could be put to good use. In her 9 years of running the Southern Cross Club (Servicing Australians & New Zealanders in Stockholm) and her continued movement in the expat world she saw that the same questions were being asked year, after year, after year. It was time to compile information and put an end to the repeated questions.

Over the years Nicole has met hundreds of expatriates and is keen to help newcomers so they can get on with life and make the most of their move to Sweden.

While continuing to develop this website Nicole also offers relocations services to companies as well as cross-cultural seminars and training in presentation technique and rhetoric.

Hester Fenwick
Hester moved from the UK to Sweden in 2003 to work for a Swedish company. She has since completed an MBA at Stockholm School of Economics, had a baby and travelled extensively within Sweden. Despite having been exposed to so many areas of Swedish life, research for this site proved just how complex a move to Sweden can be.

SInce becoming involved in the project Hester has moved on to her next adventure and now resides in Switzerland with her husband and children. The biggest difference she has noticed, at least from an information perspective, is that while the Swiss do not speak English as well as the Swedes, they have extensive information documented in English - a great help to people new to the country.
